Our technique
Laboratorios Vitros developed an ELISA assay (sandwich-type immunoassay), based on the exclusive use of specific anti-dog, anti-cat and anti-horse monoclonal antibodies, as well as high-quality lyophilised allergens.
Monoclonal antibodies, which are widely used in the diagnosis of human allergies, have been the option chosen by Laboratorios Vitros to fine-tune its assays because of their exceptional characteristics:
1. High sensitivity: Monoclonal antibodies elevate the sensitivity of the ELISA assay, because of their intrinsically high affinity for antigens (IgE) and, hence minimise false negative results.
2. High specificity: Monoclonal antibodies are highly specific because, by definition, they are directed against a single antigen epitope on the IgE. In this way, no other antigens are detected and the rate of false positive results is minimal.
3. High reproducibility Because monoclonal antibodies are produced by immortalised cell lines (hibridoma), they can be produced with identical characteristics indefinitely. This fact makes it possible to standardise the method and to obtain reproducible results.
In its ELISA Kit version, our assay has been tested and approved by the Spanish Ministry of Environment, and Rural and Marine Affairs, through Santa Fé General Laboratory for Animal Health (Granada).
